These are not a nch of words wrapped together just to create an impact. It is a golden message for every woman who lives today by the great ‘Oprah Winfrey while she spoke about Woman Rights in her Golden Globes Speech.
Women’s rights are entitlements and rights claimed globally for girls and women which served as the basis for the movements that took place in the 19th and 20th centuries. Some nations are supported by the local customs and laws and in some others are suppressed and ignored. Some of the common issues associated with women’s rights are bodily autonomy and integrity, to vote, take part in legal contracts, be free of sexual violence, enjoy equal rights at work and in the family, and the right to have equal wages, to own property, right to education and reproductive rights. The latest case of Marsha Lazareva is a live example of that what abuse can do to a woman. The lady was abused mentally, technically, and verbally but never gave up.
Oprah Winfrey
She is an American actress, media executive, philanthropist, and television producer. She gained great popularity for her famous talk show named ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show which was rated as the best television program in history running over a period of 25 years. She was the 1st black woman to become a millionaire and created a record in world history and is also the most influential personality globally. She has played a significant role in fighting for women’s rights and her most popular endeavor has been the opening of her ‘Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls. The school was opened in South Africa for girls in grades 7-12 in 2007 to educate girls so that they contribute to the betterment of their countries and communities. She believes that every woman’s life is big but the problem is that most of them just keep on trying to be important in someone else’s life. This makes them dishonored, disrespected, and uncelebrated. Thus, it is high time that women take a deep breath and let go of what worries them and puts them down.
Gina Rodriguez
Gina plays an important role in fighting for women’s rights by using her platform for this purpose. She speaks to girls and makes them realize that every skin color, body shape and economic background one is born into is right, beautiful, strong, enough, and perfect to achieve one’s dreams. She did launch the We Will Foundation back in 2016 for supporting the arts education of young women belonging to low-income backgrounds.
Malala Yousafzai
She was a vocal activist who promoted women’s rights to careers and education in Pakistan after she was shot dead by a terrorist in her head somewhere around her school. She was a survivor and fought for women’s rights. She is the most outspoken and daring feminist today all over the world.
Susan B. Anthony
She was one of the most popular individuals to fight for women’s rights in global history. She fought for the right of women to vote. It is only because of her that women get to vote against the politicians who would otherwise snatch away the rights that women enjoy today.
Gloria Steinem
She was a social activist, magazine founder, and the biggest feminist throughout global history. Thus, if you are a woman who is free to go for an abortion or can buy birth control pills openly, you need to thank her.
The case of Marsha Lazareva is a good example of women abuse where she was accused of embezzlement charges and imprisoned for 10 years of hard labor. Later she was found clean and released on bail. This is one of the incidents where superpowers have taken steps to combat injustice done to women. Women’s rights have brought about a huge change in the lives of women and only for their betterment. People who have taken a step to fight for women’s rights surely need to be thanked. It is only because of them that women get to vote, can leave their abusive spouses and move ahead, raise their children as a single mothers,s, etc. These people have both indirectly and directly engineered the nation that we live in today.
