Everyone needs a change of scenery in the form of a move from time to time.
While many people desire to live in New York and California, places in which rent continues to climb to unbelievable monthly rates, states like Louisiana go under the radar.
If you’re looking for a new place to call home, then here are some reasons why you should make the move to the Pelican State.
Three words: the Big Easy
New Orleans is one of the most unique places on the planet, and people can look no further than Mardi Gras to figure that out. When you live near a potential vacation destination, it makes traveling to said potential vacation destination easier, which could lead to more frequent getaways.
Not only that but New Orleans (ahem… the Big Easy) is the birthplace of Jazz, and it’s still known for its strong association with this music genre to this day. From the streets to bars to venues, Jazz music is played in harmony all around in New Orleans.
There’s always something going on in New Orleans, to say the least.
The smart choice: higher education
Louisiana is home to many excellent colleges, from Loyola to Holy Cross to Xavier to Tulane to Louisiana State.
There are a wide variety of options to choose from and there’s a university for everyone, whether you’re looking into higher education for your first degree, master’s, etc.
According to Ballotpedia, “Louisiana’s higher education system is composed of 66 colleges and universities. Of these, 33 are public institutions, 15 are nonprofit private schools, and 18 are for-profit private institutions.”
It will be anything but boring
Festivals, sporting events, Bourbon Street—New Orleans is jam-packed with entertainment options.
While Bourbon Street is known for iconic bars and ongoing celebration and is the place that many people think of when picturing Louisiana, the state, in general, is all about its sports.
The New Orleans Saints, New Orleans Pelicans, and LSU Tigers are the big three among the sports teams, with the Saints and Pelicans being part of the major sports leagues. As a result of having many universities, however, there are plenty of college teams to cheer for outside of the Tigers, such as the Tulane Green Wave, Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, and many others.
The entertainment doesn’t stop there, though, as there’s practically a festival for everything in Louisiana. It doesn’t hurt that hot temperatures grace Louisiana with their presence year-round as January is known as the coldest month with average highs in the 60s (New Orleans).
The culture and food
This is, for many people, the best reason to live in Louisiana. Culture and food are two important things, after all, as they are aspects that people encounter daily.
This iExplore article says it all:
“Louisiana has one of the most colorful histories and cultures in the United States. The region was colonized by France and settled by Africans, Spanish and Caribbean folks until eventually being sold to America in 1803 under the Louisiana Purchase. As such its population has large Cajun and Creole communities that greatly influence the food, language, and music. The state is laid back and unpretentious, with deep cultural roots that are protected and maintained with incredible fervor, especially on display in New Orleans. Prepare to throw caution to the wind and be transported into what feels like another country as you travel through Louisiana.”
Whether people are planning on renting apartments, living with friends or family, or having mortgage loans in Louisiana featuring beautiful real estate, there are an unlimited amount of reasons why you should make the move and call Louisiana your new home.
The culture and food do it for many people, but the entertainment factors seal the deal.
